Caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV), which is sexually transmitted, simple precautions like using protection can significantly reduce the risk of HPV infections leading to cervical cancer.

Introducing Salome Kwenda, a cervical cancer survivor and the passionate ambassador of the Her Reason For Being campaign.
Salome, affectionately known as Sal, is dedicated to advocating for cancer patients’ rights and ensuring access to quality care for all.
Having overcome multiple cancer battles herself, she has committed her life to the #HerReasonForBeing cause, striving to ensure no woman is left behind.
Through her compelling story, Sally aims to inform, inspire, and engage everyone in the fight against cervical cancer.

The implementation of the Her Reason For Being campaign is an iterative process where every step counts and every step is connected.
Understanding the genuine challenges women encounter when accessing cervical health services.
Engaging key stakeholders in promoting cervical cancer prevention, management, treatment, and elimination.
The campaign emphasizes community engagement to address barriers in managing and preventing cervical cancer.
The campaign focuses on evidence-based community engagement to raise awareness about cervical cancer, prioritizing relatable information dissemination.
Through this campaign, we have empowered 160 community health assistants, community health promoters, and members of the Langata Sub County community, impacting over 250,000 individuals in the last 10 months.
Cervical cancer is caused by a virus called, human papilloma virus, which is sexually transmitted.
Although HPV is known to cause cervical cancer, it is not always the case that if you have the virus you have or will have cervical cancer. Consulting your gynecological specialist is highly advised.
Cervical cancer is highly treatable. That is why it is important to go for regular screening for early detection and prompt interventions.
